Figure 16-18. By default, the user can sort a DataGrid on any column. The DataGrid is a powerful control, with a large number of features. The following are some of the most important: Sorting: You can programmatically sort the rows on a particular column. The user can sort on a column by clicking its header. Column headers: You can display just column headers, just row headers, or both. Rearrange columns: You can rearrange the columns programmatically, or the user can rearrange them by dragging the headers left or right. Specialized cell types: The grid supplies specialized column types for text, Buttons, CheckBoxes, ComboBoxes, and Hyperlinks. Customized appearance: You can attach Styles and Templates to the DataGrid, as well as to most of its components. This gives you a large number of options for customizing the grid s appearance.

OK, now you have seen the basic explosion, so let s tweak this particle system to look like something entirely different. You will use the same particle, mostly just to illustrate the flexibility of particles. Let s tweak this system so it looks like the thruster exhaust from a spaceship. We will do this in SceneOne. It is already set up with three particle emitters; you just need to tweak the emission parameters. Let s take a look:

In this article, we're exploring how to make SharePoint automatically extract text from images using the Azure OCR service.

Because of the DataGrid s large number of features, an exhaustive description is beyond the scope of this text. Using the DataGrid, however, is fairly simple, once you have the basics. The three basic things you need to do when creating a DataGrid are the following: Create the column descriptions. Attach the data. Customize the various parts of the grid with Styles, Templates, and Brushes.

// thruster particles.emissionRange = BBRangeMake(50,50);

Figure 7 12. The Permissions panel for a single state You can also protect single fields so that they can be viewed, modified, and so on, only by users with certain roles and permissions. But, to do so, you need to write some supplementary code, so we won t face this case here. The Worklists tab lets you define one or more review chains. By default you will find a review queue for the Pending state. The Scripts tab lets you include Python scripts in your workflow in order to run them before or after a particular transition. By default it is empty, and these scripts are written only by programmers, not end users (so don t worry about security issues). The Variables tab lets you add new variables to include in the workflow history of your objects, and you can catalog this information. For example, you can add as variables the time when a transition was performed or comments about the last transition. The Groups tab lets you set how groups are managed in your workflow. In particular, you can create a group-roles mapping for each logical state.

Figure 16-19 illustrates the structure of the DataGrid and the four properties for defining the columns and attaching the data.

There s one more change you have to make to SKPSMTPMessage that isn t as straightforward to understand without a brief explanation, so I ll talk about that here. The SKPSMTPMessage class includes a multitude of sources such as NSOutputStream, NSInputStream, and NSTimer that work just fine in a main thread but require slightly more configuration in a secondary thread. The reason for that is most of the time there is an object that works behind the scenes that manages these input sources for you without you even knowing. It all happens automagically if you create your application with one of Xcode s sample templates and an instance of UIApplication is created for you. That magic object is known as NSRunLoop. When you manage secondary threads with input sources and instances of NSTimer, you need to create your own NSRunLoop, and you need to run it periodically to check for events. NSTimers that get fired off without a properly configured NSRunLoop will never work. So, in order to make this work, I simply created an NSRunLoop that runs in a loop and processes the input sources until the thread exits:

And now we will cover the most important configuration tabs for workflows: States and Transitions. The States tab lets you define and manage all the states defined in your workflow. Click the States tab now; you will see the list of all the logical states defined in the current workflow, as shown in Figure 7-13.
