A measure group is simply the group of measures that share the same grain When you go to build your data warehouse, you would create a separate fact table for each measure group Conversely, if you already have a data warehouse with several fact tables, you simply create a measure group for each fact table A cube is then the combination of all the measure groups This means that a single cube can contain measures with different grains This pushes the meaning of cube even further from its geometrical origins Perhaps you can visualize a cube as a cluster of crystals of varying sizes and shapes, many of which share common sides In this new way of thinking, a single cube can contain all the metadata for all the data in your data warehouse Because of this, a cube is now sometimes called a Unified Dimensional Model, or UDM.

set { m_lawn.Height = value; } } #endregion } Data views In 3 you created an array of SourceFile classes that you were able to use as a data source in a DataGrid control. In general, you want the data model to fit the data well, and then you want to provide methods to support a user interface. You may also want to limit the amount of control the user interface has over the model. For example, you might not want to allow updates. You can prevent updates by implementing an interface on your class. When you create a reference to the data model for the user interface, you provide only a reference to the interface. You could, of course, provide a reference to the full model, but using an interface can let the compiler do some of the work, alerting you when you re attempting to update data.

Combining PDF Files Swiftly with PDFsharp – Improve & Repeat
22 May 2018 ... After many prototypes I settled with PDFsharp in a preview version. Here is a minimalistic example you can use to combine PDF files: C# .

The first system known to have implemented transactional processing was an airline reservation system. Reservations that required multiple flights could not progress if any of the individual flights could not be booked. The architects of that system knew this and designed a transactional approach that today we know as the. X/Open Distributed Transaction Processing Model, known as XA. (See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X/Open_XA.) An XA transaction involves the XA protocol, which is the two-phase commit I mentioned earlier, and three entities: the application, resource, and transactional manager. The application is, well, your application. The resource is a software system that is designed to join in XAstyle transactions, which is to say it enlists (joins) in the transaction and understands how to participate in the two phases of committing data as well as provides for durability (discussed shortly). The transactional manager oversees the entire transactional process. So what is a two-phase commit In the end, imagine your application needs to write data to, say, a database. If that write is performed under the guise of a transaction, the database holds the data to be written until the transactional manager issues a prepare instruction. At that point, the database responds with a vote. If the vote is to go ahead and commit (write) the data into a table, the transaction manager proceeds to the next participating resource, if any.

Sometimes a cube has more information than is manageable by a single person For example, a procurement manager may not care about how sales discounts are applied Analysis Services allows you to create a perspective that is like a cube that contains only a subset of the measures and dimensions of the whole cube You can create as many perspectives as you want within a cube A cube is a logical structure, not a physical one The same is true for a measure group It defines the metadata so that client tools can access the data You define measures and dimensions, and specify how measures should be aggregated across the dimensions Conceptually, each measure group contains all the detail values stored in the fact table, but that doesn t mean that the measure group must physically copy all the detail values from the fact table.

If all resources vote to commit the data, the transactional manager issues a commit instruction and each resource writes the data into its internal data store. Only then is the data destined for your table actually inserted into the database. If any one resource has a problem and votes not to commit the data, the transactional manager issues a rollback instruction. All resources participating in the transaction must then destroy the information related to the transaction, and nothing is permanently recorded. Once the data has been committed, the XA protocol guarantees that the result of the transaction is permanent. If data was inserted, it is there for your application to use. If information was deleted, it has been deleted permanently. Your application, then, can move forward comfortable in the knowledge that all is well with the data. The data is consistent, and the application is in a determinate state.
