When the device receives the update informing it of the changes, the device initiates synchronization. When synchronization is complete, a new extended HTTPS request is issued. These extended requests last for 15 minutes. Direct Push requires the mobile phone carrier to support long-standing HTTPS requests. It is also necessary for the organization s firewall to support these requests.
