The ef ciency of a refrigerator is affected greatly by the temperature of its condenser coil. Many small, 12 VDC boat compressors are located in warm or constricted spaces. Such condensers need fans to remove the heat from the coils. This circuit uses a tiny thermistor, taped to the condenser tubing, to detect the need for air ow. The tape over the thermistor protects it from the direct ow of cool air, so that it measures the temperature of the coil rather than that of the moving air. The opamp compares the voltages of two voltage dividers formed by R1/RT ( input) and trimpot R2 (+ input). When the temperature of the thermistor rises above the set point, its resistance drops, the voltage at the negative input drops, and the output voltage of the inverting ampli er rises. Transistor Q boosts the opamp output current to close the relay and turn on the fan. The temperature at which the fan comes on (the set point) is adjusted with trimpot R2. Trimpot R3 adjusts the gain of the ampli er and, thus, the hysteresis, or difference between turn-on and turn-off temperatures.

Fifty-ohm microstrip is utilized in microwave circuits to prevent reflections and mismatch losses between physically separated components, with a calculated nominal width that will prevent the line from being either inductive or capacitive at any point along its length In fact, with a source s output impedance matched to the microstrip, and the microstrip matched to the input impedance of the load, no standing or reflected waves will result; thus there will be no power dissipated as heat, except in the actual resistance of the copper as I2R losses In microstrip the dielectric constant (Er) of the dielectric material will not be exactly what the microstrip transmission line itself sees This is due to the flux leakage into the air above the board, combined with the flux penetrating into the dielectric material.

Listing 6-7 shows the complete WSDL document for the credit service that we are going to develop later in the chapter.

(Notice also that ap is the symbol for polarizability, not to be confused with our use of a as the angle between a dipole and a point charge.) The standard formula for the strength of an electric field due to a point charge is given by E= q e r2 (6-11)

Services for Ethernet, ATM, private line typically refer to all services that employ these technologies as a handoff.

The rst region is de ned for 0 t 1 where the current takes the form of a straight line with a slope i(t) = at + b A where a and b are constants. We know the value of the current at two points i(0) = 0 A, i(1) = 20 A

This means that the actual effective dielectric constant (Eeff), which is the true dielectric constant that the microstrip will now see, will be some value between that of the surrounding air and the true dielectric constant of the PCB Because of the small RF field leakage that emanates from all microstrip, these types of transmission lines should be isolated by at least two or more line widths to decrease any mutual coupling effects when run side by side on a PCB To lower the chances of cross talk even further, a ground trace may be necessary between the two microstrip transmission lines Microstrip should also always be run as short and straight as possible, with any angle using a mitered or slow round bend (Fig 134) to decrease any impedance bumps and the ensuing radiation output [electromagnetic interference (EMI)] caused by a sharp or unmitered bend.

In action photography, capturing just the right moment is as much a matter of luck as anything else. If your camera supports it, use burst mode. Set the camera to shoot anywhere from two to five photos with one click of the shutter button. The rapid succession of shots increases your odds of getting the precise moment by 200 to 500 percent.

We touched on Software as a Service (SaaS) a bit in the previous chapter, but let s talk about it in more depth, with a further examination of Salesforce and Google. In essence, SaaS is simply the cloud vendor providing the given piece of software you want to use, on their
