So, first of all, what exactly is XAML We need to answer this question before we can go into how it is used in WF workflows and then why we won t use it in our Office workflows at least not directly. So, XAML is a purely declarative (no-code) style of defining a workflow in the form of a valid XML file. Put another way, we set up our workflow in XAML by building constructs (activities, etc.) described entirely in XML. At runtime, the workflow compiler converts this declarative markup into an in-memory workflow object and executes it.
