Figure 12-6. The Attach to Process dialog Figure 12-7 shows the Select Code Type dialog. You can leave this on the default to let the debugger automatically determine the code type, or manually override and focus on Silverlight, as shown in Figure 12-7.

In the sections that follow, I review the two ways that you can add custom logic to a workflow. Custom logic in this case means adding your own code to a workflow. Without the ability to introduce your own code, you would find it difficult to accomplish most meaningful tasks.

Now you need to create a new action in the menu controller to create a menu. You can do this with Zend_Tool using the create action command, as shown in Listing 7-9. Listing 7-9. The easiest way to find the process you want to debug is by the window title. An instance of iexplore.exe running this chapter s Silverlight application is highlighted in Figure 12-6. Once you ve successfully attached to the correct process, using the debugger is no different from starting the browser within the IDE under the debugger. You can set breakpoints, break into the application, and so on.

Note You can also define some workflow logic within a RuleSet. Each Rule in the RuleSet can act upon and update workflow variables and also execute methods. Use of the RuleSet for workflow logic is discussed in 11.

Create and Print PDF in ASP.NET MVC | DotNetCurry
Abstract: Create PDF in ASP.NET MVC using the Rotativa package to convert a HTML response directly into a PDF document and print the PDF document. Tools like Crystal Reports can be used to print views displaying reports, and can even create and print these reports in a printer friendly document.

Both of these mechanisms are covered in the remainder of this chapter. To illustrate the differences between implementing code with the CodeActivity and custom activities, I implement the same example workflow with each mechanism. The example that I use is a simple order entry workflow. It consists of these overly simplified steps: 1. Validate the ID of the account that is placing the order and retrieve the available credit for the account. 2. Validate the ID of the product being ordered and retrieve the price of the product. 3. If the account and product are valid, and if the account has sufficient credit to cover the price of the item, proceed with the order.

Exceptions happen. It s your mission as a software developer to handle exceptions, such as using isolated storage and reading from a file that doesn t exist. You must handle these in order to build an application that works well and is resistant to expected problems. Sometimes conditions outside your control or conditions you haven t considered will cause an exception, and the Application class provides an unhandled exception handler just for this eventuality. By default (i.e., the default Silverlight application template in Visual Studio), a Silverlight application passes unhandled exceptions on to the browser via the following unhandled exception handler: private void Application_UnhandledException(object sender, ApplicationUnhandledExceptionEventArgs e) { // If the app is running outside of the debugger then report the exception using // the browser's exception mechanism. On IE this will display a yellow alert // icon in the status bar and Firefox will display a script error. if (!System.Diagnostics.Debugger.IsAttached) { // NOTE: This will allow the application to continue running after // an exception has been thrown but not handled. // For production applications this error handling should be // replaced with something that will report the error to the // website and stop the application. e.Handled = true; try { string errorMsg = e.ExceptionObject.Message + e.ExceptionObject.StackTrace; errorMsg = errorMsg.Replace('"', '\'').Replace("\r\n", @"\n"); System.Windows.Browser.HtmlPage.Window.Eval ("throw new Error(\"Unhandled Error in Silverlight 2 Application " + errorMsg + "\");"); } catch (Exception) { } } }

The purpose of the examples that follow is to illustrate how to use the CodeActivity and also create your own custom activities. The examples are not designed to demonstrate how an order entry system should work.
