operation queues (see Table 1 2) in perspective there are two broad groups of queues in GCD: dispatch queues and operation queues. Dispatch queues are a part of GCD and the C runtime and are a C-based mechanism for executing tasks. Dispatch queues always execute tasks in a first-in, first-out order and use blocks to encapsulate the unit of work.
