Active Directory is divided into logical structures which include objects, domains, trees, forests, and organizational units and physical structures, which include domain controllers and sites. In the logical structure, domains are the primary security boundaries of a network. Multiple domains sharing a contiguous namespace are organized into trees. Multi ple trees make up a forest. The forest is the outermost boundary of an organiza tion. Organizational Units are used to create administrative boundaries within a domain. Domain controllers and sites make up the physical structure. Domain controllers are Windows Server 2003 servers running Active Directory services; each domain controller holds a full replica of the directory partition for that domain. Sites are collections of domain controllers that are connected by fast, reliable connections. Site boundaries are used to control replication traffic.

Changing settings of a process such as priority or processor affinity can have an adverse effect on the performance of other applications running on your computer. Ending a process, especially a process tree, should be done only after normal termination procedures have failed. Windows Server 2003, thankfully, safeguards its processes from termination through Task Manager, but they are still susceptible to resource starvation through inappropriate priority adjustment of other processes.

The Performance tab displays a real-time view of key elements of your computer s performance and memory use. There are graphs displaying the current usage for each processor and memory usage.
