A fundamental value reported by a protocol analyzer using an appropriate 802.11 interface card is the signal strength. There are two mechanisms by which utility and protocol analysis software report this value, and neither purports to provide the accuracy that would be obtained using a spectrum analyzer or RF signal strength meter. The method used by some utility programs (and not used by true protocol analyzers) is to compare the number of Beacon frames seen to the number of Beacon frames expected, and to use the ratio as a representation of signal strength. The idea is that when the signal is poor, more Beacon frames are lost. Because a Beacon frame has a field called the Beacon Interval that reports the configured interval between Beacon packets, a receiving station knows what to expect. The problem with this method is that RF energy is not actually being measured. The actual signal strength could be quite high, but in a very noisy RF environment, Beacon frames may be corrupted or lost. A utility that uses the Beacon Interval as a basis for reporting signal strength would report a low value when, in fact, the actual energy level was high. The other method, used by true protocol analyzer tools, is to receive information directly from the wireless NIC where the actual power level is being measured. The signal strength is then reported for each packet. This value is typically reported as a percentage, and the natural question arises, "A percentage of what " The 802.11 standard explains that a value called the Receive Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) measures the energy observed at the receiving antenna during receipt of a single packet. The RSSI is intended to be used in a relative manner and does not reflect a particular dBm

Another kind of tokenization simply involves splitting up a string to produce tokens a certain number of characters long. For example, you might want to split up a paragraph into lines up to 80 characters long. The first step is to tokenize the string into lines 80 characters long, regardless of when the splits in the lines occur. For this, as usual, you need a matching and a named template that, as with the tokenize template, uses recursion to iterate over a string. However, this time the recursion needs to use the substring() function to split the string into the number of characters that are required:

There is nothing new about mobile radio As we have seen, radio at its beginning was a wireless message service By 1922, there were experiments with re and police mobile radio By the mid 1930s, mobile radio broadcast receivers were appearing in cars15 Mobile telephony for the general public slowly grew, and became less expensive and clumsy to use Eventually a service emerged that would be recognizable today, except that the handheld telephone was considerably larger These services used analog frequency modulation, worked at either 400 or 800 MHz, and were cellular, meaning that many transmitters covered small patches of land and the user was handed off from one to the other as he moved around In the United States, the system was called AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone System), and it was one of the last contributions of the old Bell System.

96. B. The error logs should reveal at what time the errors began. Answer A is incorrect because checking the lights on the NIC card will only give you your current connection conditions. Answer C is incorrect because this will not tell you when the problem started. Answer D is incorrect because any error message should already be in your log files. 97. A. Disk duplexing uses more than one controller, to remove the controller as a point of failure in a mirrored disk system. Answer B is incorrect because only a minimum of two controllers are needed. Answer C is incorrect because only a minimum of two hard drives are needed. Answer D is incorrect because this system is not duplexed. Answer A single controller can be a point of failure. 98. B. When you have two IDE hard drives, one will have to be set as the master and one as the slave to work properly. Answers A, C, and D are all incorrect designations. 99. C. It is recommended that you replace the battery of a UPS every three to five years. 100. B, C, and D. When choosing a location for a new server, make sure there is proper ventilation, so answer B is incorrect. Answer C is incorrect because keeping a server by a window would be a bad choice because of direct sunlight. Answer D is incorrect because air conditioning is also very important when choosing a location for a network server. If the temperature is too hot, damage will occur.
