If you have hundreds of users, that becomes a very serious problem. Alternatively, you can often handle your chat connection with a simple server. Using a server like Mongrel will be much faster than using a full-featured Rails server, and you ll be able to serve more clients in the given amount of memory. Of course, Rails takes up memory for a reason: it does numerous great things for you automatically. So if you need features such as sessions or complex templating, you re probably better off creating a Rails application. Feb 13, 2015 · This article describes how to generate a PDF file at runtime in a Windows Application. We now have the ability to set the page title and breadcrumb trail for all pages in our web application, so we must update the AccountController class we created in 3 to use these features. First, we want all action handlers in this controller to have a base breadcrumb trail of Home: Account , with additional steps depending on the action. To add the Account breadcrumb step automatically, we will define the init() method in this class, which calls the Breadcrumbs::addStep() method. We must also call parent::init(), because the init() method in CustomControllerAction sets up other important data. In fact, this parent method instantiates Breadcrumbs, so it must be called before adding the breadcrumbs step. By automatically adding the Account step for all actions in this controller, we are effectively naming the index action for this controller Account. This means that in the indexAction() function we don t need to set a title, as Breadcrumbs::getTitle() will work this out for us automatically. Listing 6-5 shows the changes we must make to the AccountController class to set up the trail for the register and registercomplete actions. No change is required for the index action.
